God calls Noah into the ark. Noah obeys, the waters rise, and life is preserved within the ark.

Then the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation.

Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and his mate; and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and his mate;

7:3
and seven pairs of the birds of the air also, male and female, to keep their kind alive upon the face of all the earth.
ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവകളില്‍നിന്ന് പൂവനും പിടയുമായി ഏഴു ജോഡിയും കൂടെ കൊണ്ടുപോവുക.
7:4
For in seven days I will send rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground.”
ഏഴു ദിവസവുംകൂടി കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ നാല്‍പതു രാവും നാല്‍പതു പകലും ഭൂമുഖത്തെല്ലാം ഞാന്‍ മഴപെയ്യിക്കും; ഞാന്‍ സൃഷ്ടിച്ച സകല ജീവജാലങ്ങളെയും ഭൂതലത്തില്‍നിന്നു തുടച്ചു മാറ്റും.

And Noah did all that the Lord had commanded him.
കര്‍ത്താവു കല്‍പിച്ചതെല്ലാം നോഹ ചെയ്തു.
7:6
Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth.
നോഹയ്ക്ക് അറുനൂറു വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോഴാണ് ഭൂമുഖത്തു വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കമുണ്ടായത്.
7:7
And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him went into the ark, to escape the waters of the flood.
വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കത്തില്‍ നിന്നു രക്ഷപെടാന്‍ നോഹയും ഭാര്യയും പുത്രന്‍മാരും അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാരും പെട്ടകത്തില്‍ കയറി.

Of clean animals, and of animals that are not clean, and of birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground,
ദൈവം കല്‍പിച്ചതുപോലെ ശുദ്ധിയുള്ളവയും
7:9
two and two, male and female, went into the ark with Noah, as God had commanded Noah.
അല്ലാത്തവയുമായ മൃഗങ്ങളും പക്ഷികളും ഇഴജന്തുക്കളും, ആണും പെണ്ണുമായി ഈ രണ്ടുവീതം, നോഹയോടുകൂടെ പെട്ടകത്തില്‍ കയറി.
7:10
And after seven days the waters of the flood came upon the earth.
ഏഴു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ ഭൂമിയില്‍ വെള്ളം പൊങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങി.
7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.
നോഹയുടെ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ അറുനൂറാം വര്‍ഷം രണ്ടാം മാസം പതിനേഴാം ദിവസം അഗാധങ്ങളിലെ ഉറവകള്‍ പൊട്ടിയൊഴുകി, ആകാശത്തിന്റെ ജാലകങ്ങള്‍ തുറന്നു.
7:12
And rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
നാല്‍പതു രാവും നാല്‍പതു പകലും മഴ പെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
7:13
On the very same day Noah and his sons, Shem and Ham and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them entered the ark,
അന്നുതന്നെ നോഹയും ഭാര്യയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ ഷേം, ഹാം, യാഫെത്ത് എന്നിവരും അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാരും പെട്ടകത്തില്‍ കയറി.
7:14
they and every beast according to its kind, and all the cattle according to their kinds, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, every bird of every sort.
അവരോടൊത്ത് എല്ലായിനം വന്യമൃഗങ്ങളും കന്നുകാലികളും ഇഴജന്തുക്കളും പക്ഷികളും പെട്ടകത്തില്‍ കടന്നു.
7:15
They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life.
ജീവനുള്ള സകല ജഡത്തിലുംനിന്ന് ഈരണ്ടുവീതം നോഹയോടുകൂടി പെട്ടകത്തില്‍ കടന്നു.
7:16
And they that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.
സകല ജീവജാലങ്ങളും, നോഹയോടു ദൈവം കല്‍പിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ, ആണും പെണ്ണുമായാണ് അകത്തു കടന്നത്. കര്‍ത്താവു നോഹയെ പെട്ടകത്തിലടച്ചു.
7:17
The flood continued forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.
വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കം നാല്‍പതുനാള്‍ തുടര്‍ന്നു. ജലനിരപ്പ് ഉയര്‍ന്നു; പെട്ടകം പൊങ്ങി ഭൂമിക്കു മുകളിലായി.
7:18
The waters prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark floated on the face of the waters.
ഭൂമിയില്‍ ജലം വര്‍ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു. പെട്ടകം വെള്ളത്തിനു മീതേയൊഴുകി.
7:19
And the waters prevailed so mightily upon the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered;
ജലനിരപ്പ് വളരെ ഉയര്‍ന്നു; ആകാശത്തിന്‍കീഴേ തലയുയര്‍ത്തിനിന്ന സകല പര്‍വതങ്ങളും വെള്ളത്തിനടിയിലായി.
7:20
the waters prevailed above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep.
പര്‍വതങ്ങള്‍ക്കു മുകളില്‍ പതിനഞ്ചു മുഴം വരെ വെള്ളമുയര്‍ന്നു.
7:21
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, birds, cattle, beasts, all swarming creatures that swarm upon the earth, and every man;
ഭൂമുഖത്തു ചരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ ജീവജാലങ്ങളും - പക്ഷികളും കന്നുകാലികളും കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങളും ഇഴജന്തുക്കളും മനുഷ്യരും - ചത്തൊടുങ്ങി.
7:22
everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died.
കരയില്‍ വസിച്ചിരുന്ന പ്രാണനുള്ളവയെല്ലാം ചത്തു.
7:23
He blotted out every living thing that was upon the face of the ground, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the air; they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark.
ഭൂമുഖത്തുനിന്നു ജീവനുള്ളവയെയെല്ലാം - മനുഷ്യനെയും മൃഗങ്ങളെയും ഇഴജന്തുക്കളെയും ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികളെയും - അവിടുന്നു തുടച്ചുമാറ്റി. നോഹയും അവനോടൊപ്പം പെട്ടകത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നവരും മാത്രം അവശേഷിച്ചു.
7:24
And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.

What the text says
Clean animals: seven pairs, male and female (7:2).
Unclean animals: one pair, male and female (7:2).
Birds of the air: seven pairs, male and female, to keep their kind alive (7:3).
Verses 9 and 15 describe entry two by two. This describes the paired entry alongside the quantities specified in verses 2–3.

Context: Genesis 7 does not list individual species or define the categories. Genesis 8:20 later describes Noah offering clean animals and birds in sacrifice. These are study notes; the supplied verses appear unchanged above.

The chapter ends with the waters prevailing. The 40 days of rain fall within the flood period; these are not an additional 40 days to add to 150.

Faith that responds
Noah’s obedience in verse 5 invites us to answer God with faithful action. The Lord closing the ark in verse 16 directs our attention to God’s care amid judgment.
The Church reads Noah’s ark as a prefiguration of salvation through Baptism. The flood’s waters point toward the ending of sin and the beginning of new life in Christ (Catechism, 1219; 1 Peter 3:20–21).
For reflection: What act of obedience is God asking of me today? How can my household live more fully from the grace of Baptism?

Lord, give us Noah’s trust and a heart ready to obey. Renew us in the grace of our Baptism, guide our families, and teach us to care for the life you have entrusted to us. Amen.
