GIFTS AND PRESENTS
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)
Christmas is around the corner and everyone is concerned on buying presents for their friends and relatives. There are so many worries like chosen preset is not good enough, or if the person will like it, but are we using this season as a reason for presents or do we really accept the fact that Jesus is the reason for the season! We see Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims give presents and “celebrating Christmas”, are we becoming like them?
Every Christmas Eve children wait for the beloved Santa to deliver their presents and yet not one of us takes even that amount of time to wait for Christ! He is born in a stable as no one had space for him, even after 2000 years do we still not have space for him? (Luke 2:7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them) He was born in the center of world, is he the center of our world? (Luke 2:4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,)
Mother Mary waited for Immanuel, our savior! Lets us along with mother Mary wait this advent for our savior. This advent, let’s not ask for anything but to say thanks for the beautiful things he was already given us, look around us everything we see was made from his word! Yet we don’t have time to thank him, this gorgeous season of advent lets change our ways and follow the bright light like the wise men until it reaches our destination: Jesus! (Matthew 2:9 When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star that they had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the place where the child was.)
He is the biggest gift we could give or have, nothing can replace him, and he will never replace us. The Bible promises us that God knew us before we were formed in the womb. Do we know him yet? This Christmas along with all the gifts, let us welcome Jesus the most beautiful gift into our hearts and our homes, when Jesus lives in us his love overflows from our heart and everyone come to us will know Jesus through us. Let us make space for him in our hearts. He had to be born in a stable, as no one would let him in, let’s not let that happen again, and make sure we are ready for him!
Prayer: Dear Holy Father, this advent help us to prepare our hearts, mind and soul, help us to spend time with you through prayer. Mother Mary be with us, protect and guide us. Intercede for us to your beloved son. We give thanks to all and every blessings. Help us to grow in faith and truly celebrate your birth of Jesus in our hearts!
